Cape Dory 30’ Cutter Rig

On the cutter the mast is stepped further aft than the ketch, and a Yankee jib with a self tending staysail complete the fore-triangle. Edson wheel steering is standard on Cape Dory designs.

Accommodations – Standard Cape Dory 30 layout with V-berth cabin forward with 2 opening bronze Spartan Ports, overhead Lexan hatch with storage under berths and filler board (holding tank under V-berth), lamps Port & Starboard and 110 outlet Starboard. Head area next aft with marine head to Port with hanging storage area, vanity sink to Starboard with storage, lamp 110 outlet. Teak doors fore and aft close the head from the two cabins. Opening bronze Spartan Ports Port and Starboard and a Dorade vent to Port in head.

Main cabin has settee berths Port and Starboard with the Port berth sliding to form a double berth. Backrests fold up at night to create more berth width. The teak dining table folds up to the Port forward teak bulkhead. There are 4 opening bronze Spartan Ports and an overhead Bomar hatch for excellent ventilation. All cushions throughout replaced in 05. Main cabin includes fan, four lamps, 110 outlet, book rack, ships clock, Barometer & gimbaled oil lamp. 6’3” head room, storage lockers, drawers, shelves & bins throughout. Galley is aft with electrical panel Starboard & two 110 outlets Port & Starboard. Teak and hardwood interior, teak and holly sole, 8 bronze Spartan Ports and 2 Lexan deck hatches.

Galley is aft of salon surrounding the companion way. Counter with new double sink. Draining Icebox with shelf, pressure water system, cold. New storage below and lockers surrounding galley.

Deck – anchor, foredeck anchor rode locker, Oak bowsprit, 4 new fenders, dock lines, 8 new life jackets, throw able life ring, new removable s/s ladder fitted for gate and stern, winch handle holder. Brights – Awlwood process cleaned and sealed all topside teak. Sunbrella blue custom dodger & sail covers made in Deltaville, wheel cover, winch covers, & compass cover all blue. Custom made helmsman seat.

Navigation – Garmin GPSMap 500/700 speed/distance & Depth, Standard Horizon Voyager VHF marine radio, top of mast wind indicator, Ritchie compass on binnacle, inclinometer in cockpit below companionway, Edson Steering.

Mechanical – New Whale Gushor automatic bilge pump, 2 CO2 charged fire extinguishers, pedestal brass wheel w/teak spindles, 2 Marine batteries – new 2022 ; battery parallel switch, 110 volt AC electrical system w/five outlets throughout, shore power cord.

Equipment – Winch handles 1 each for Yankee, Main & Mast, Portable search light, lifelines, air horn, 2 boat hooks, barometer & clock set, gimbaled oil lamp. Life Preservers on Board: (8) Adult preservers; (3) Youth 50-90 lbs; (2) Child 30-50 lbs

Sails & Rigging – Partial battened main by Doyle with 1 reef point, loose footed; mainsheet traveler; Super RF Genoa Yankee cut 7.03 Dacron, all 3 sails made by Doyle Sails Stuart Fl new 2012; Hank-on staysail, new 2012; Furlex 200S roller furling system, Forespar whisker pole, deck stepped mast, 3 chrome Lewmar #6 halyard winches on mast, LazyJacks employed only to bring down main; 2 bronze Lewmar #6 main & staysail sheet winches, 2 bronze Lewmar two speed self-tailing #10 head sail sheet winches. Bow Sprit replaced 2022.

Comments – Sellers purchased boat in ‘02 from berth on Chesapeake Bay and have sailed on Chesapeake Bay since. She is a documented vessel with the Coast Guard. Boat design is full keel with attached rudder & standard 2 blade prop.

Built in 1981, hull number 172, this traditional boat is in good shape. Since 2002 the following repairs and updates have been made – her colors have been returned from brown to blue, all engine work since 2002 has been by a licensed professional, carefully winterized annually, 2003 top of mast wind indicator replaced. Hull painted blue in 2016 topsides painted in 2018, replaced all canvas made in Deltaville in 2017 in dark blue to match hull. 2005 all cushions replaced by Ship’s Tailor ($1238) covers cleaned in 2017, all halyard and lines replaced 2008 & new brass & teak ships wheel, 2010 new automatic and manual bilge pumps replaced, new galley double sink, hauled regularly every 2-3 years for general maintenance, bottom and prop paint. We have prop & bottom cleaned 3 times per season by diver ($80 each). Sails routinely cleaned & repaired
